TRANSLATOR’S NOTE WHERE not otherwise indicated, the following translation has been made from the text of the Fioretti di San Francesco con Prefazione di PAOLO SABATIER, Assisi, Tip Metastasio, 1901. I have, however, consulted various other versions, among which the following are the more important:—

Floretum S. Francisci Assisiensis. Liber aureus qui italice dicitur I Fioretti di San Francesco, Edidit PAUL SABATIER, Paris, Librairie Fischbacher, 1902.

I Fioretti del Glorioso Messere Santo Francesco e de’ suoi Frati, a cura di G. L. PASSERINI, Firenze, G. C. Sansoni, 1903.
